Job Description:
Volunteer Tutors for One-to-One/Homework Children’s Club Program
Description:
Volunteer tutors work one-to-one with children between the ages of 7-14 to provide supports with homework and to help students develop reading, writing, spelling, and basic math skills.
Dates/Times:
Mon and Wednesday 4pm to 5pm.
Tue and Thu between 4pm and 7pm.
Program Starting/ending:
Monday April 20 to Thursday June 11, 2009 (eight weeks)
Recruitment is ongoing.
Training Provided:
All short-listed tutors must attend both tutor training sessions that will be announced the month prior to program starting.
Skills:
Excellent written, reading and spoken English skills. Dedication, patience, creativity and a sense of humour are wonderful attributes for this position. A criminal record check and personal interview will be conducted. Tutors must be 19 years or older.
Benefits:
6 hours of orientation and training, plus ongoing support and access to relevant workshops. Valuable experience to accumulate volunteer hours for entrance into the Bachelor of Education/Professional Development Program or the Special Education Assistant Program.
