Student Job Link's Resources

For a lot of college students, having a regular part time job isn’t all that great of an option.  There is studying to be done and essays that need to be written.  Luckily for those people, there are a number of seasonal work opportunities (other than the summer) where you can make some money without hurting your study time.
•    Package Delivery:  During the holidays, delivery companies are desperate for seasonal workers.  Due to the rise in internet shopping, there are literally tons upon tons of packages that must be delivered in a narrow amount of time.  Luckily for students, this delivery window normally corresponds to winter break, so you can make some extra money while school is out.
•    Tax Season:  The big, nation-wide financial companies like H&R Block always hire seasonal work to help with the spring rush of people who need to have their taxes done.  With this option, you will need to take a tax preparers course and pass an entrance exam, but the pay is pretty good if you do get the position, and you’ll have the knowledge necessary to do your own taxes.
•    Postal Service :  Different from the package delivery listed above because of the requirements to become a postal employee.  You’ll need to take an entrance exam and go through an interview, but if you make it through, you have access to some pretty good opportunities.
•    The Old Standbys:  These include restaurants, retail stores, hotels, tourist attractions, and manual labor.  Depending on your location, there are likely a few industries in the area that need work for only certain times of the year.  It is a good idea to submit your application a few months before this season if the particular business is a popular place to work at.
