For many of us time management is mostly figured out of necessity . And it could well be that over the years you have developed bad habits that could actually be hindering you from achieving your goals.

1. Make a To Do List.
You can write it in your planner, computer or whatever suits you best. When you’re writing things down, you’ll be amazed how motivating this can be. It is highly satisfying to cross items off your list when you’ve completed them. If you find that the list is getting way too long and you feel overwhelmed, don’t panic. Divide the list into shorter ones and set your priorities. That way you’ll know what the most important items on the list are and challenge yourself to get those things done first. 2. Focus.
Although some people boast of their ability to multitask, this approach does not necessarily lead to more productivity since one has to take into consideration the end result. Studies indicate that our mind works best when it is focused on ONE task at a time. This is why it is important to make that To Do List, so that your mind is free of any worries that you’re going to forget doing that important thing you had to do. If you prioritize your items efficiently, you can focus on each one at a time and proceed to work on the others accordingly without having your mind sending you reminder alerts that you still have to go to the bank, etc and distracting you from the task at hand.
3. Set deadlines.
So you did the list. But a To Do List is worthless if you don’t assign a deadline for each task. Estimate the amount of minutes/hours needed to complete each task and set deadlines. Be realistic and make it a point to stick to your deadlines no matter what.
4. Know yourself.
You know whether you are a morning or night person and you also know which things you love doing and others that you absolutely hate. Always start with the tasks that you hate doing and get them out of the way. The most difficult and challenging tasks should be reserved for the time of the day that you feel you are the most productive in.
5. Reward.
Take the time to reward yourself when you complete certain important tasks.
Anyone can benefit from efficient time management skills. Your productivity will increase and your stress level is likely to decrease since you’ll know that you’re spending your time wisely and effectively. Nothing beats being productive in your work and/or studying while still finding time for leisure activities.
